Multiple Hurt as Turbulence Strikes A Delta Airlines Flight into Sydney, Australia
Multiple passengers and crew were hurt when a Delta Airlines flight from LA to Sydney experienced rough air Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson stated. Four flight attendants were injured.
Local paramedics said they evaluated a total of five people, and took a trio to the hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised pain in the back and migraines. Those affected were between their thirties and seventies.
This marks the most recent case of aircraft experiencing turbulence, with aviation specialists indicating that global warming is a major factor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 passengers and a crew of 15 on the wide-body jet, the representative noted, clarifying that the plane landed "safely and normally" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday.
Paramedics indicated they received a call just three minutes prior to the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
The reasons turbulence is growing increasingly prevalent - and often stronger.
