19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with former coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
